2018 Escorted South America Tours

South America is a land rich with exotic flavors, personalities, adventures and welcomed surprises. This website is dedicated to helping you choose from the best 2018 South America tours and understanding the differences between various South America travel packages. You can experience both man-made and natural wonders on a South America trip.

You may be wondering which are the best South America tours?

The best South America Tour is waiting to be chosen by the right traveler. There are several reputable tour companies we can recommend, but which is best for you would depend on what you want to see and do while on your trip, how much time you have, and what your budget is.

Other things to consider when choosing a South America tour are:  Do you want to focus on one country at a time with an in-depth tour, or do you want to combine some of the most popular countries together in one visit? Are you looking for adventure or do you prefer luxury hotels?  Do you want to focus on adventure, nightlife, wildlife, wine, archaeology, or all of the above?

There are a variety of different travel styles to choose from to South America including escorted trips, adventure travel, small group tours, family vacations and more.

What is your idea of the perfect South America tour?

The perfect South America Tour will have to involve a cruise up the jungle-lined Amazon River as caimans splash into the water in front of you? Stand in the presence of Iguazu Falls - a waterfall taller and wider than Niagara Falls? Watch the sun rise above the intricate ruins of Machu Picchu?  Or perhaps a voyage along Magellan's route around the southern tip of South America for a glimpse of the wilds at the end of the world.

When is the best time to take a South America Tour?

The best time to take a South America Tour is during South America's summer months. Keep in mind that the seasons are opposite to ours here in the U.S., so their winter season is June to September.  The peak time to travel to South America is therefore December through March.  That is not to say you cannot travel at other times.  Buenos Aires for example is pleasant anytime.  We recommend Iguazu Fall in the spring.  Peru is nice January through May.  Call a travel specialist to discuss your plans in more detail.

Santiago, Chile:Santiago Chile

Explore Santiago, the capital and largest city in Chile.  Take in the art, music and museums, go for a hike or horse-back ride in the surrounding mountains or a city walk in the amazing parks. We recommend the funicular ride up the side of the mountain for amazing views of the city.

Quito, Ecuador:

Quito Ecuador

While retreating to the mysteries of Ecuador’s wild forests you’ll also want to spend a little time in Quito, Ecuador’s capital city – the highest capital city in the world. It was also one of the first deemed UNESCO
World Heritage Sites in 1978 and is recognized for its cultural heritage, ancient Inca influence, and architecture. With a bustling and modern city center surrounded by impending volcanoes and mountains, and the “Old Town” of Quito, it is a diverse and enlightening place to visit.

Lima, Peru:Lima Peru

Visit the beautiful Government Palace and Larco Herrera Museum in Peru's capital city of Lima.  Try a Peruvian lunch, visit the handicraft market or board an open-air bot to see the seals of the Palomino Islands. In the heart of the city, architecture and history converge with local food markets, merchants of all manner of Peruvian goods, and a lively nightlife. WThe top reason many people visit Peru is to see the mysterious and captivating Machu Pichhu.

Iguazu Falls:Iguazu Falls

Fly on a chartered aircraft to the stunning Iguazu Falls on the border of Argentina and Brazil.  Enjoy a jungle train or a breathtaking Zodiac ride along the lower Iguazu River. You can walk over the falls for incomparable views and walk the boardwalks at the base and get delightfully drenched. If the chance to see the falls at sunrise or sunset is a possibility, it’s truly a moving experience beyond description. Iguassu is a true spectacle and an inspiring marvel of South America.

Buenos Aires ArgentinaBuenos Aires, Argentina:

Soak up the sights and colors including La Boca, Plaza de Mayo and Recoleta in Buenos Aires.  Watch authentic Gaucho horsemanship, or enjoy diner, live music and a riveting tango show.  Along with the world-famous steaks and wine you’ll try here, you must experience a few others: the brightly colored La Boca district, the Recoleta Cemetery, the Metropolitan Cathedral and La Casa Rosada in the Plaza de Mayo. And if you can, head south to the pampas to get a little taste of Argentine country life and see the gauchos (cowboys) at work.
