DAY 1 - Arrive in Manaus, Brazil
On arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel. Explore Manaus on your own or take an optional city tour.

DAY 2 - Manaus / Board your Cruise
A free morning before your afternoon embarkation (see page 41 for ship information). After an orientation, begin sailing upstream to the Pagodao River. Just before sunset, enjoy a canoe safari with chances of observing nocturnal animals. (B,D)

DAY 3 - Amazon River / Rainforest Walk
Begin the day with a rainforest walk with a local naturalist. Next visit a “Caboclos” family with an opportunity to learn the local way of life. Then sail through the Anavilhanas, the world’s largest fresh water archipelago. Tonight seek out caimans, rare frogs, sloths and snakes. (B,L,D)

DAY 4 - Novo Airão / Lake Acajatuba
Stop at the village of Novo Airão, with its handcraft boatyards and bustling market. After lunch, visit a white sand beach for a swim. The day ends with a canoe safari on Lake Acajatuba to learn about the unusual flora of this region and to fish for piranhas. Following dinner, there is an outing on the river to spot caiman. (B,L,D)

DAY 5 - Lake January / Manaus / Rio de Janeiro
A bird-watching canoe trip at sunrise on Lake January is not to be missed. This is also the best opportunity to see the giant water lilies. Cruise through the “Meeting of the Waters,” before arriving in Manaus. Transfer for your flight to Rio. (B)

DAY 6 - Rio de Janeiro
You can choose one of the following two private morning sightseeing tours. (B)

Sugar Loaf: See Copacabana and Ipanema Beaches, then ride a cable car up Sugar Loaf Mountain. – OR – Corcovado: Tour through the fashionable Barra District. Corcovado Mountain is next with its giant statue of Christ. Also see the 200,000 seat Maracana Stadium.

DAY 7 - Rio de Janeiro
Spend time on the colorful beaches and in the bustling markets. Your local host will offer an array of optional trips. (B)

DAY 8 - Depart Rio de Janeiro
Free day, if you purchased airfare in conjunction with the tour, are transferred to the airport for your overnight flight home. (B)
