Day 1: San Jose, Costa Rica - Tour Begins
Welcome to Costa Rica for a family adventure in paradise. Upon arrival, your day is free to take a dip in the hotel’s pool or set off to explore San Jose on your own. Visit a butterfly farm, an art museum, or simply enjoy a meal together at a local restaurant.

Day 2: San Jose - Tortuguero National Park
Meet your fellow travelers this morning at a welcome breakfast as your Tour Manager briefs you about all the exciting things ahead. Then, set off for the Caribbean Coast and the remote Tortuguero National Park, a special reserve accessible only by airplane or boat. Tortuguero is one of Costa Rica’s most popular parks, protecting eleven different habitats. Transfer by boat to your lodge, making your way through winding canals – and play a great game of “I Spy” as you try to spot some of the 57 species of amphibians and 111 species of reptiles that call Tortuguero home! Arrive at your eco-lodge, the perfect backdrop for your jungle adventure, complete with a pool, games and space to explore. This afternoon, learn about the nesting habits of the local Green Sea Turtles during a visit to the Green Turtle Research Station. Walk with your guide out to the beach* to see where the Green Turtles nest. Tonight, gather with your fellow travelers to enjoy a delicious meal.

Day 3: Tortuguero National Park
Venture out this morning to explore the surrounding jungle during a guided nature walk - make sure you bring your camera and binoculars since you are sure to spot some of the local monkeys, sloths and birds of the region! Enjoy a leisurely lunch before embarking on a spectacular boat cruise through the various canals and be sure to keep an eye out for the wildlife as well as exotic flora. Return to the lodge for some leisure time before dinner.

Day 4: Tortuguero National Park - Sarapiquí
Travel through jungle canals to the lush rainforest village of Sarapiquí. Arrive at a beautiful eco-lodge – your home for the next two nights. This evening visit the La Tirimbina Biological Reserve for an interactive discussion and discover the important role that bats - who make up almost 50% of the mammal population in Costa Rica - play in the ecosystem of the rainforest.

Day 5: Sarapiquí
Today’s first stop: a pineapple plantation! See where this delicious fruit is grown. Taste some luscious pineapple…you’ve never tasted such a fresh sample! This afternoon, take a white water raft ride through the stunning Costa Rican countryside. From gentle floats to the thrilling bursts in between, enjoy the feeling of being on the open water surrounded by amazing scenery. Tonight, you and your family are the chefs! But don’t worry; an expert will walk you through every step as you learn how to make local favorites such as guacamole, empanadas, tortillas and plantains.

Day 6: Sarapiquí - Arenal
This morning, journey through the rainforest to a cacao plantation and see firsthand how the cacao bean becomes chocolate! En route to Arenal, make some new friends during a visit to a local school** that is supported by the Collette Foundation. Arrive at the amazing Arenal Volcano…this geologically young volcano is estimated to be less than 7,000 years old. Asleep for hundreds of years until an eruption in 1968, Arenal is one of the most popular stops in Costa Rica. Almost every day you can see red burning rocks tumble down its slopes. This evening gather with the group for a visit to the famous volcanic hot springs! This wonderful experience offers endless possibilities for fun and relaxation with hot springs, pools and waterslides!

Day 7: Arenal
Your choice today***: a hanging bridges tour or an amazing zip line adventure! Both adventures feature spectacular views as you journey among trees that grow to heights of 100 feet or more. Wander through the treetops on the “hanging bridges” tour as you are surrounded by the beauty of the rainforest. Or, fly through the skies viewing the lush green tropical jungle from high above the canopy as you zip line together for a once-in-a-lifetime family adventure! The afternoon is at leisure to enjoy the hotel amenities, do some last minute shopping or go horseback riding. Tonight, savor a scrumptious farewell dinner and say goodbye to your new friends.

Day 8: Arenal - San Jose - Tour Ends
Your family adventure ends today in San Jose. Leave Costa Rica with visions of soaring above the rainforest, swimming in volcanic waters, and seeing countless wildlife roaming free in their natural habitats. Family memories to last a lifetime!
