Day 1: Arrive Liberia, Costa Rica
A transfer is included from Liberia International Airport to Hotel Bosque del Mar, Playa Hermosa; at this secluded oceanfront resort, there are monkeys in the trees overhead, iguanas on the sands below and tropical gardens all around. Settle in for a two-night stay and meet your fellow eco-adventurers at a welcome dinner tonight.
Overnight: Hotel Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste, Costa Rica
Meals Included: Dinner

Day 2: Spend the day, your way, in a natural playground
How would you like to soar like a bird – or monkey – through the jungle treetops like the local wildlife does or explore the wilderness by crossing hanging bridges? You can do just that on a zip-line adventure* high up in the canopy or on a guided nature walk with a local expert. Have you ever imagined hiking up a volcano or taking a “dip” in thermally heated waters? You’ll be able to discover Costa Rica’s eco-amazing landscapes your way during a choice of activities today. Outdoor fun continues with time to play as you please when you get back to your beachfront resort.
Overnight: Hotel Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste, Costa Rica
Meals Included: Breakfast, dinner

Day 3: See a volcano up-close by boat, zip-line or sky tram
Mighty Arenal Volcano stands in a perfect cone shape over Arenal Lake, with its profile reflected in its still waters. Weather permitting, get a closer look at this active volcano on a lake cruise, before taking off on a sky tram or a cool zip-line adventure* over the lush Costa Rican landscapes. Once you’re back on terra firma, we’ll drive to a private riverfront wildlife reserve for a two-night stay at Tilajari Resort Hotel, set inside a tropical rainforest.
Overnight: Tilajari Resort Hotel, Muelle, Costa Rica
Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 4: Meet the locals and go river rafting in a jungle
An exciting day begins with a jungle river rafting trip* on the Peñas Blancas River. Your expert guide will help you spot amazing wildlife from giant iguanas – they can grow up to 3 feet – to chattering parrots and slow-moving sloths. Stop along the way to visit the private home of a local farmer and his family who have lived on the river for generations; see how they manage without modern-day conveniences. The rest of the day is free for your own jungle discoveries.
Overnight: Tilajari Resort Hotel, Muelle, Costa Rica
Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 5: Pineapples, boats & a turtle trip
Visit an organic pineapple plantation for a tasty farm-fresh treat... Hop aboard a special touring tramcar for an insider’s look at the history of pineapple production – with a tasting of course! Amply refreshed, prepare to drive atop some typically rugged, often unpaved roads to the coast. You have to take a boat to get to your riverfront lodge, next to Tortuguero National Park – it’s the only way to get there. Keep an eye out for turtles, caimans, monkeys and toucans as you cruise. If you’re traveling with us in July or August, don dark clothing for a nighttime trip to the beach to observe nesting endangered green sea turtles.
Overnight: Evergreen Lodge, Tortuguero, Costa Rica
Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 6: Rainforest rappers and Tortuguero treasures
Wake up to the sounds of the rainforest all around you. Eleven different habitats have been identified in the surrounding wilderness, including 60 kinds of mammals, 57 species of amphibians, 111 varieties of reptiles and more than 309 recorded species of birds. Cruise the park’s rivers and canals with an expert naturalist guide, then visit a local village and the Caribbean Conservation Center to see how these ecosystems are being protected for the future.
Overnight: Evergreen Lodge, Tortuguero, Costa Rica
Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 7: Fly to San José where chocolate grows on trees!
Fly back to San José today. Learn where chocolate really comes from and enjoy a tasting that makes this day very sweet indeed. The food fiesta continues at our fun-filled farewell party tonight.
Overnight: Real InterContinental Hotel & Club Tower Costa Rica, San José, Costa Rica
Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 8: Adios Amigos - journey home
Tour ends: San José. Fly home anytime. Airport transfers are included from the Real InterContinental Hotel & Club Tower Costa Rica to San José’s Juan Santamaria International Airport. You should allow a minimum of three hours for check-in at the airport.

Meals Included: Breakfast
